2020“英语写作教学与研究系列专题论坛” 技术写作论坛、学术写作论坛成功举行

2020121213日,继首场二语写作论坛开讲,英语写作教学与研究专题论坛之技术写作论坛、学术写作论坛均成功举行。

1212日上午,系列论坛(二)技术写作论坛通过腾讯会议在线举行。美国佐治亚州立大学顾宝桐教授和复旦大学陶友兰教授带来了两场精彩的报告。论坛由我院钱叶萍副教授主持,来自全国高校及企业的百余名专家学者参加了此次论坛。

此次论坛首先由顾宝桐教授做主旨报告,题为Flat vs Skeumorphic Design in Technical Writing: The Divergence and Convergence of American and Chinese Rhetorical Principles。顾宝桐教授分析了技术写作中的化设计和拟物化设计的优劣及应用场景,详细解读了中美两国文化下不同的修辞学特点。

陶友兰教授的报告题为传播技术思维,讲好中国故事:《英语技术写作精要》设计理念,陶教授详细介绍了她和合作者们新近出版的技术写作教材。深入浅出地分析了教材中的重点章节和编写理念,同时分享了复旦大学技术写作课程的课堂组织。

1213日下午,国内外专家学者再聚云端,系列论坛(三)学术写作论坛如约举行。复旦大学蔡基刚教授和英国考文垂大学Hilary Nesi教授分别就学术英语写作教学与研究相关问题做了主旨报告。我院学术英语课程组负责人王菊芳老师主持了此次论坛。

蔡基刚教授围绕语言教师是否能够教授SCI期刊研究论文写作?Can writing SCI Journal Research Articles Be Taught by Language Teachers?)这一问题做了主旨发言。他首先分析了SCI期刊研究论文作为教学材料的可行性,阐释了学生从阅读和写作SCI期刊研究论文中可能收获的益处,接着着重论证了英语教师能够胜任SCI期刊研究论文读写课的观点。蔡教授的发言厘清了语言教师的教学重点,通过大量实例示范了以显性教学、支架策略、体裁分析教学法三位一体为特征的教学框架和教学活动设计,对开展学术英语读写教学具有直接的指导意义。

Hilary Nesi教授以做好准备,谋求非英语媒介环境中成功的英文学术写作Preparing for Academic Writing Success in a Non-English-Medium Environment)为题做了主旨报告。她首先指出,设计专门用途英语(ESP)课程大纲始于细致分析学习者的多重目标语境。教师应使学习者具备适应不同语境(如:研究生学习、专业交流、科学研究等)的写作能力。随后,Nesi教授从语用学视角阐释了写作中的礼貌原则、参与者身份者与立场等,分析了提高学术写作能力的方法。她指出,写作技能的提高需要过程,要让学习者学会思考写作目的、分析写作任务、明确读者群体情况,从而逐渐提高学术写作能力。

参加论坛的学者们在倾听各论坛主旨报告后纷纷表示受益匪浅,并在线上就报告内容与专家进行了互动和提问。最后,与会者们在腾讯线上会议室云合影留念。

    “英语写作教学与研究系列专题论坛由南京农业大学7163银河及南京农业大学英语写作中心主办,邀请多位国内外专家聚焦英语写作教学与研究,从二语写作、技术协作、学术写作的等多个方面探究推进英语写作教学与研究的新方法。据悉,系列专题论坛(四)写作发表论坛将于1226日通过腾讯会议(会议号:826 543 622)在线直播举行。

 

专家简介:

Dr. Baotong Gu(顾宝桐)is the director of the Rhetoric and Composition program at Georgia State University. He has taught such courses as English Composition, Business Writing, Technical Writing, Electronic Writing and Publishing, Digital Rhetoric, Digital Media Production, Grant and Proposal Writing, Composition Pedagogy, and Global Rhetorics. His research covers such areas as writing technology theories, content management, and cross-cultural communication. In addition to journal articles, he has also published six books and edited collections, including From Oracle Bones to Computers: The Emergence of Writing Technologies in China; Content Management: Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice; Content management: Implications for technical communicators; Designing Web Applications for the 21st Century Writing Classrooms; Contemporary Western Rhetoric, etc. Dr. Gu has also served as a referee reader for such journals as Technical Communication Quarterly, Technical Communication, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, and Second Language Writing. He was the director of Lower Division Studies and the founding director of the Confucius Institute at Georgia State University. He also served on the Executive Committee of the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing and was the conference chair for the 2012 national ATTW conference.

 

陶友兰,复旦大学外文学院教授、博士生导师,现任翻译系主任,翻译硕士(MTI)教育中心主任。曾赴德国、英国、美国多所大学访问进修。主要研究方向为翻译教育与教材研究、中国典籍英译及其传播研究、跨文化交际研究、翻译语料库研究等。主持并完成国家社科、教育部、上海市级课题多项,在国内外核心期刊上发表学术论文60余篇,出版专著、译著、口笔译教材、论文集等多本,发表译文多篇。兼任Interpreter and Translator TrainerSSCIA&HCI)、Perspectives(SSCIA&HCI)等国际杂志以及国内多家核心期刊的编委和审稿人。

 

Professor Cai Jigang(蔡基刚)is from Foreign Languages and Literature Department of Fudan University. He is Chair of the Advisory Committee on College English Education of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, President of both China ESP Association and China EAP Association. He is a past vice chair of the Advisory Committee on College English Education of Ministry of Education of China. His research interest includes contrastive linguistics and research publication.

 

Professor Hilary Nesi taught EAP in the UK and overseas for manyyears, andshe is now Professor in English Language at Coventry University.  She is Editor-in-Chief ofJournal of English for Academic Purposes, and she was principal investigator for the projects to create theBASEcorpus of British Academic Spoken English and theBAWEcorpus of British Academic Written English.
